Nationwide Pension Fund appoints Buck to provide integrated pensions technology and administration, alongside ongoing strategic communications

Appointment comes as Buck launches its new digitally-enabled administration, technology, and communications single solution, Orion+.

LONDON, January 26, 2022 – Buck, an integrated HR, pensions, and employee benefits consulting, technology, and administration services firm, today announced that it has been appointed by the Trustee of the Nationwide Pension Fund (NPF) to provide member-focused pensions administration and technology services to its 29,000 defined benefit scheme members. Concert, a Buck company, has been providing communication services to the NPF for over five years and this new appointment will build on that established and trusted relationship.

The NPF Trustee and Nationwide selected Buck as their partner due to its culture and best-in-class digital pensions administration service. To meet the Trustee’s objectives, Buck will deploy pensions administration via its experienced teams coupled with the latest technology, including an interactive portal. This portal has proven to increase member engagement by up to 30% and will provide members with the tools they need (such as online quotations and transfer values) to better understand and plan for their retirement.

By delivering high-quality administration and specialist support for scheme administrators, as well as its own advanced technology, Buck will enable the Trustee to provide an enhanced experience and service to its members, meeting one of its key strategic objectives. Through Concert, a Buck company, Buck will continue to support a wide range of the scheme’s communication objectives, offering the Trustee deeper insight into the NPF membership.

Ian Baines, Head of Pensions at Nationwide, comments:
“Buck’s flexibility, expertise, and digital-first collaborative approach were all key in the decision to appoint them as the Trustee partner, as well as allowing us to continue with the valued communications support we’ve received from Concert. We look forward to working even more closely together to integrate Buck’s high-quality administration and empowering member technology to better support the Fund and its members.”

The appointment by the NPF coincides with the launch of Buck’s new integrated pensions administration solution, Orion+, which combines member-focused administration and technology with strategic communications to streamline administration services for trustees, drive member engagement, and fulfil the strategic objectives of both trustees and sponsors. The launch reflects Buck’s continued drive to be the most digitally-enabled pensions administrator in the industry.

David Piltz, U.K. Managing Director of Buck, comments:
“We’re very proud to be appointed as a trusted strategic partner for such a large and respected scheme as the Nationwide Pension Fund and look forward to supporting Nationwide’s DB scheme members with our cutting-edge administration and communications solutions.

“Successful scheme administration means empowering members and giving them the knowledge they need to make decisions for their individual financial futures. It also means giving trustees and sponsors the right tools to help them gain a deeper understanding of their membership and how to interact with them more effectively. I’m delighted to see Orion+ supporting these goals as it’s specifically aligned to meet the needs of each client.”
